How to use Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free service from Google that provides detailed statistics and information about visitors to one’s websites. Google Analytics was designed to be of benefit to marketers as opposed to webmasters and internet technologists.
GA is the most commonly used web stats service and tracks almost half of the top ten thousand websites.

Google Analytics (GA) is able to track and derive data from any kind of referer including search engines, display advertising, pay-per-click networks, email marketing and minor sources such as the links within PDF documents.

GA is fully Integrated with AdWords enabling users to review online campaigns by tracking landing page quality and conversions. By using GA, marketers can see which ads are working well and which not meeting goals, enabling the advertiser to optimise and expand good campaigns and cease or rework less successful ones.

Through the use of Google Analytics poorly performing pages can be identified through techniques such as funnel visualization, where visitors came from (referrers), how long they stayed and their geographical location as well as more advanced techniques.

Within most businesses the secret to success is often related to the ability to measure and track success and then implement appropriate improvements. GA enables online businesses to do this but the whole topic can seem a little daunting. The following training package goes through the process of installing and working with Google Analytics so that a new user will quickly be able to start tracking and improving web pages or Adwords campaigns. After all, if we can convert an extra ten visitors in one hundred to become clients then for no cost we have added more than 10% to our profits and for no cost apart from a little time!
