eBay As Marketing Research Tool
eBay may be well known as the world’s largest online auction service, the place to go to buy or sell the weird and wonderful and, these days, the pretty mundane.
it is this universality that makes it able to be used as an unlikely tool for marketing research. Oddly enough, with a little thought it becomes much less unlikely that the site should be a useful research tool. eBay is really cool because it has millions of people describing things they want to sell and even more people describing things they want to buy.
Over the years I have come to trust what people DO over what they say they do and search engines and the data we get from them, useful as it may be is very largely about what people are thinking about doing. eBay, full of real buyers and sellers is a marketers dream because it is full of people DOING not just thinking about it!
In this video we show how to use eBay tools to drill down into what buyers and sellers of ‘stuff’ are really interested in. What do they want to buy and what words do they use to describe or find those things.Bear in mind this is not going to be so appropriate for items not bought and sold on eBay, or if you are not too interested in making a profit but these days what is NOT sold on eBay and who is not interested in making a profit?
We are providing this training video free of charge to all site visitors, grab a cup of tea, settle in and see how an English bloke does his marketing research.
